Week 9 – Final Progress Review & Presentation

Week 9 was the final progress review presentation which counts as 30% of our overall marks for the Foundation Project Module. I feel that although there were parts missing, my final progress review went well and I have a more clear focus for the final 3 weeks before hand-in.

Model Progress

This week I finished building my main model and began the process of texturing and lighting. I had previously began to texture my model but because I was making changes quite frequently, I thought it would be better to wait until I had everything else done.

Before beginning the final texturing process, I created a separate project in Maya to create a series of “Texture Balls” to make sure my chosen textures worked with what I was wanting to create and also to understand better how to texture and object as this is something I don’t have any previous experience with. This also includes a basic light set up using Directional Light above the objects.

As a glass object is going to be an important feature in my final model, I have also included that as a glass wall in my texture test file.

Easter Break

My plan for Easter break is to finish the texturing and lighting process. At this point it is too late to make any major changes as this will cause me to fall behind.

Once the texturing of the main pieces is done, I plan on creating a few Decoration elements to the scene to make it look more realistic. This will include Cups, Bottles and other accessories.

Preparation for final hand in

Now is also the time to begin preparing my final report ready for submission on 3rd May.
