Week 5 got off to a bad start due to a broken plugin on my site. Because of this problem, I was unable to log in to my site which caused a lot of stress and panic. After contacting my website host, the problem was fixed and now I can get back to work!
Week 5 Modelling
During this weeks modelling process I have spent a lot of time on the main Kitchen Island Counter and drawing inspiration from the different Island Counters I have seen on Google and Pinterest.
I wanted the main focal points of the Island Counter to be the two glass sections. I wanted to make something that would stand out in the rest of the design. I got the idea for this after seeing a design on Google.
Thumbnails and Silhouettes
When creating the thumbnails, I have been looking at different kitchen layouts and trying to create something I could work with. I have also been thinking about the different elements I want to show in my model and how I can show that within my final art piece.
For my final design I have used Thumbnail 5. The reason behind this is I had a better overall idea of how that one would look when completed. My next step is to take the thumbnail drawing, tidy it up and create a final art piece.
Progress
I feel like I have spent too much time on creating a single element for the kitchen model. This week has been spent watching more tutorials on how to do multiple different things to my model, from creating glass textures, lights and texturing the whole design that my model has pretty much taken a back seat.
This hasn’t helped much as I’ve basically just swapped what I’m panicking about.
Week 6 Planning
Week 6 will mark the half way point of the assignment and will also be the 2nd progress review. My plan for next week is to make sure my blog is up to date and also make sure that I am at the right stage in my model to ensure that it will be completed on time.
The focus for my model should now be on making sure all individual elements like the sink and taps for example, all fit in with my overall theme.
