This week has been spent getting furious with taps. I wanted to try and create something with a unique styling instead of a standard block shape often associated with a contemporary design.
Tap Faucet design

This was the design I was aiming for. I loved the separate/exposed tubes design of the tap and thought that, even though it might not be seen unless you zoom in to the model, it would create another unique design point.
After spending nearly 2 hours attempting to model the design, this is the closest I came to getting the design I had in mind. I realised that spending even more time modeling and deleting would put me well behind my targets and in the end, even though I wanted to complete it, it would be better to stop wasting more time on this and redesign the tap.
Over detailing?

Because my final design for the Tap/Faucet was pretty simple, I wanted to make sure that every detail was added to the design. This was basically done to make me feel better about the design.

There is not much you can really add to a tap. I think it is a good idea though to add a spout design where the water would come out. I wanted to add this to help my design stay on the side of realism.
Final Tap/Faucet Design

For such a small detail, I’m happy with my overall design. Even though this is not what I originally wanted to do, overall I think the design works well with the contemporary theme of the model.
I am now thinking about colours ant textures for the tap/faucet and also making sure they will fit with my overall design.
One last major change
My main aim for the model was to create one Stand Out piece within the model. This is supposed to be the Island counter. After taking some time to fully assess my model and see how each element worked together, it became clear to me that I needed to redesign the island counter as the “floor to ceiling” pieces gave the design a more traditional feel which didn’t work with what I wanted to create.

Looking more closely at my Pinterest Moodboard I decided to edit my Island Counter. My idea was based on a counter resting on a glass section, this helped to give a more clear design and keep it within the Contemporary design I was aiming for.
Week 9
Week 9 is not only our final progress review but also our last week at university before Easter break. To make sure I don’t fail, it is important that I keep my focus at home and spend the next 3 weeks before hand in on May 3rd making sure everything is completed.
